How to Get the Best Results from Semaglutide

Here at Momentum Weight Loss Rx, we are excited to help you achieve your healthy weight and move towards your goals. We know you have a lot of questions about the program, including what to do to get the best results. So we've compiled 5 tips to help you maximize your results when using Semaglutide for weight loss.

Tip #1 - Understand the potential side effects.

Gastrointestinal (GI) side effects are common with the use of GLP-1 medications. They can be concerning for patients and represent a potential barrier for use in obesity treatment. Typically, GI side effects include

  • nausea

  • diarrhea

  • constipation

  • vomiting

  • heartburn

It is important to understand that these side effects are dose-dependent, mild-to-moderate in severity, short-lived and mostly occur during initiation and up-titration of the medication.

You will improve your chances for success on this medication significantly if you learn about what the side effects are and use our recommended strategies to reduce the risk of developing them. It is also important to contact us if you develop any persistent or severe GI effects.

Tip #2 - Start low, go slow...

This program isn't a quick fix diet. The dosing protocol is designed to slowly acclimate the body to the medication to help reduce some of the uncomfortable GI side effects a few people experience. For some, the slow titration of the medication can be frustrating because they want to see immediate results. We believe in helping you achieve sustained results. It's important to understand that most people don’t see significant weight loss until the 2nd and 3rd month when the dose increases. Some places may immediately start people on a higher dose but that can result in people quitting treatment quickly due to side effects (and yo-yo dieting and weight regain).

Tip #3 - Modify your diet

Here are a few dietary modifications to help not only reduce the side effects but improve your outcomes:

  • Reduce your meal size

  • Be mindful to stop eating once full

  • Avoiding eating when not hungry

  • Avoid high-fat or spicy food

  • Moderate your alcohol intake

  • Increase your fiber intake if you have constipation

Tip #4 - Drink a lot of water

You know the importance of drinking enough water — it’s vital for all your bodily processes. But it becomes even more important with Semaglutide, as staying hydrated can stave off nausea that some people experience on this medication. Try to get in a minimum of 80 ounces of water a day.

Tip #5 - Rotate Where You Inject the Semaglutide Each Week

You can inject Semaglutide in three different locations on your body: your thighs, abdomen, and upper arm. These areas ensure you inject the medicine under the skin but far from a vein. It’s important to rotate where you inject each week so you give your skin a chance to heal.
